When we first met with Nicki & Nate over coffee, we saw how perfectly they complement each other. Nate has a smile as large as his personality, and one look into Nicki’s eyes reveals her quiet intelligence. They both have a love for physical activity; Nate is a master martial artist and Nicki is an expert rock climber. They are kind, friendly, and welcoming, and together they are playful and silly. They are completely in love.
The forecast for their wedding day wasn’t very promising. It would be warmer than average, but there was a threat of showers throughout the day. The overcast in the morning provided great protection from harsh sunlight, which we took advantage of when photographing Nate and his groomsmen. The ceremony, inside at the Sturbridge Host Hotel , was beautiful against a backdrop of green plants, and complete with a two-piece band playing music throughout (including the Star Wars Throne Room march as their recessional music).
It never did rain, and the clouds parted just before the sun went down, which made for some dramatic pictures. The hotel lies on the southern most point of Cedar Pond, and we were able to take advantage of the romantic lighting right on the water’s edge.
The reception was fun and all of Nicki & Nate’s friends and family had a great time dancing and enjoying themselves. After the bouquet and garter toss, during the traditional time when the man who caught the garter places it on the leg of the woman who caught the bouquet, Nate decided to have some fun. He blindfolded his friend, Scott, and tricked him into placing the garter on his own hairy leg. Everyone had a great laugh, including Scott.
As the night went on, it was clear how happy Nicki & Nate were. Even though they both have many great friends, they rarely left each other’s side. Congratulations Nicki & Nate, we know that you are going to live long, happy lives together!
